Support Forum
I'm having trouble logging in on the front page of my forum. It doesn't work every time and sometimes not at all. It does seem to work if I check the Remember Me radio button, but that should not be necessary, and my users don't know that this will be required to log in. I told them to just do that for now, but is there any help you can give me here?
The very first thing to remember is that logging in is not Simple:Press function nor are you logging in to the forum. This process is all WordPress and you are logging into your WordPress site. All Simple:Press does is pass the login credentials over to WordPress for processing. In return WordPress informs Simple:Press whether the current user is logged in or not.
So - if you are having problems logging in to the site then you need to look at the WordPress side of things because that is where the problem will lie. Or - alternatively - if you have any other WP plugins that may be affecting the process they may be the culprit.
The 'Remember Me' option, if I recall correctly, simply creates a cookie that is not removed with the session end so that should help as long as the user has cookies enabled for the website on their browser.
I must add that it seems to me that the WordPress team have been messing with login/logout and sessions quite a lot over the last couple of releases (and indeed the next one) and I am finding myself having to login far more than I used to have to which is thoroughly annoying. We need, perhaps, to lobby them to ease off a little.

Clearly my reply and your follow up post overlapped so I didn't see it.
That sounds a little like you may have started to use one of the WP cache plugins. If that is the case then it can serve up old data and totally mess with a dynamically produced page like a forum. If so then you will need to exclude the forum from all aspects of the cache which they have options for on their admin panels.

No, I'm not using any caching plugins.
I went through and deleted all unused and unnecessary plugins. Then I cleaned and optimized the database and turned on the WordPress debugger. I'm getting no errors from the debugger, but the problem persists. It seems to be totally random. Clicking around the forum, I will randomly be logged in or out.
The only plugins I am running are these:
Akismet
Simple:Press
WP-Mail-SMTP
WP Toolbar Removal
With 7 Simple:Press forum plugins.
Well - all that I said above in Post 3 still stands. We only get your login status from the WordPress framework and can only act upon that.
I am more than willing to take a look at your site to see if I can spot any anomalies - but you will need to supply a link to the forum page of course - but don't expect too much from that...

I appreciate that very much! The site is http://trekverse.com
I'll PM you administrator credentials, so you can see the back end, too. Thanks again.
I have just worked my way through all of your topics without being logged out, the site generally is remarkably clean of errors... not even a mild warning anywhere which is pretty unusual!
I see nothing wrong. Try and see if there is any common factor to when this happens.

I know, right? Not a single error anywhere
I can't even see the problem anymore, so I'm gonna assume the WordPress fairy paid me a visit when I wasn't looking.
My first thought was that it was browser-specific because it only happened in the new Firefox Developer browser, but then I was able to duplicate the problem in Chrome.
Then it seemed like it only happened when I clicked on a profile from within a topic. But not every time! And never when I was logged in as the Administrator, only as a Member. And now I can't get it to happen at all in any browser, so...I really don't know.
But I appreciate you taking a look. At least I know there's not some glaring mistake somewhere. If it happens again, I will try to narrow down the conditions. I hope I didn't waste too much of your time.
Thanks again.
Well, I didn't know if I should start a new thread or not, but I just got this error message when trying to create a post (Add Reply):

I'm wondering if it's related to the original problem in any way.
The Post I was attempting to save when this happened actually did get posted, but I was sent to a blank white page with this message (WordPress debug is set to true).
Any ideas?
