Support Forum
I have had several of my forum members complain that their login details are not remembered by the forum so they keep forgetting their password and having to reset it. Apparently this is happening on different browsers, so is not a browser problem as I first imagined. Is it more likely to be a problem with the forum or with Wordpress itself, and do you have any ideas how we can get round it?
There is some ambiguity here which perhaps we should start with. 'They keep forgetting their password' - but can I safely assume you are not suggesting that the website is losing the original password? Just that users tend to forget the one they have... so perform a reset....
OK - NO websites 'remember' user login details. Login details ARE a product of local storage on the users machine - usually through browsers - and sometimes through other applications like Apple Mac's KeyChain or 1Password. it is these mechanisms that will pre-fill a login form on a website. There is no method available for the website to push such details down to the user. They do - of course - have them stored in their database.
So - if your users are opening the login form and nothing is pre-filled then I am afarid it IS down to their briowser settings no matter what they may tell you.
