Support Forum
Hello sirs!
I am wondering how or where i can add a generic message that displays when you restrict access to the forums to guest readers ?
I currently have my guest permissions set to "read forum and topic title only", and would like to show a message telling guests to login or register should they wish to see the full content.
Can you point me in the right direction please
With thanks
Rich
There are a few ways you can do this. What we did on the Simple Press Demo site is create a widget that tells a non-logged in user one thing and a logged in one something else. We put it at the top of the page above the forum and the same on other pages.
See http://demo.simple-press.com/p.....buttonelp/ for example as a guest. Then login as a pre-registered test member and you will see something else shown there.
A basic way to do this is shown here. http://codex.wordpress.org/Fun....._logged_in
You could add something like that to the actual forum page by editing it in WordPress.
I would also take a look at our sneak peek feature... it allows you to optionally show your list of forums and/or your list of topics... but not your post content... if they try to visit the level where you stop the sneak peak, you can display a message or you can redirect to special page...
