I updated this morning and also made all text in topics go missing. It threw the error preg_replace_callback() sp-api-filters.php a bunch of times in the topics. Cannot remember the line number it stated.

I downgraded and restored database backup. Do you think this is the same issue?

no need to downgrade - a bit drastic for this...  one of two fixes available as discussed in this thread...

either enable wp smiley conversion on wp - settings - writing... or just comment out that line of code (the preg_replace)...

we will get it fixed up (actually already is)...

Thanks. Will upgrade again. 

Would probably not have downgraded so quickly but I could not get onto the forum at the time to find the fix as there was a temporary issue with my membership reactivation here.
