Maths capcha on post preview?

I have been experiencing periods of high load on my server. My host’s tech support department think that it’s because of spam post preview activity (see excerpt of email below). Is it possible for the maths capcha to be set up to work when both saving and previewing a post?

“When a guest tries to submit content they have to complete a simple equation to save the submission. They do not however have to complete it to then preview the submission. In my testing, the repeat POST requests from the previously mentioned IPs had almost identical log entries as my IP when I just hit the preview button.

Spamming the preview button on the forum is the best explanation to the load issue seen earlier, based on what information was in the logs.”

really?? spamming the post preview button?? What does that even mean? you have a rogue or malicious user that just sits there hitting post preview? from the logs, you should be able to get their IP and just ban the user… cant believe an average user would be spamming the post preview button…

sorry, but the captcha does not work on the post preview… is it possible? probably, but have never looked nor has it been requested… another option would be to just disable post preview if its causing that much problem on your server…

note: mobile currently so reading email and not sure I can see all of your message (no html or images)…

I don’t know what it means. As a non technical web user I have to rely on what people tell me. I’ll get back to this guy and ask him to explain the problem in a way I can understand!

Thanks for your help so far.
