Any idea what would cause a member who is listed at the right level to gain access to parts of the forum can no longer access that part?  She can log in but it says she doesn't have the right access level but she does.  I have double-checked her role settings in WP, her user settings in the forum and made sure those user levels still have access and they do.  Others are posting so I know they have access...

Most odd if other members of the same User Group have no problem.
Can you start by checking other User Groups you have to see if this member is in more than one group?

She is and so are others and at least one of the others has posted today with the same access just fine...most recent is 3 hours ago but this person has not been able to get in the one since early this morning.  I did delete her and readded her to see if that would make a difference and I'm waiting to hear back.

Weird. If this has not shifted anything can you ask your user ot help out? Perhaps the first question should be to ask exactly what they DO see - what message etc., is being shown. And perhaps they could also visit their forum profile - click on the 'Permission' tab, select a forum they should be able to see and use and open it and let us know what their settings show for create topic/reply to topic etc...
Might be useful to know if these 'reported' settings arethe same as the user experience.

She said when she clicks on the area she used to have access to and still should, she get an "access denied" message.  I'm going to wait to hear back from her on the other stuff and try what you suggested above.  That's a good place to begin :)   Thank you.

'Access Denied' - just those two words - is not a message we actually display anywhere as far as I can see looking through all of the code. It IS used to prevent people trying to run actual php code files but not, I believe, as a message to users.
