Is there a way to send custom email out to all forum members with email software hosted on the site.
Basically, when a person registers with the site, I’d like them to either be automatically added to the email list or at least given the option to be added. This way the email list remains automatically updated and clean.
Also, I want to have the email software within my own site. I’m willing to pay for it upfront versus paying a monthly fee for an ESP like AWeber or Constant Contact.
Not built into the SP plugin no – but there are, as I understand it, other plugin options available for WordPress that should be able to do this.

You can use a newsletter plugin for WP that sends out emails to subscribers or all WP members of your site. You can send simple emails or full blown newsletters with graphics.

Brandon, have you used this plugin? I ask, because I’m wondering if you know how to add current registered WP members of your site to start off with?
I have used it in the past but it has been upgraded quite a bit since then and I have looked at it closely lately.
It used to have a way to send emails to all WP users or just subscribed ones. There was also an import function and a way to add a check box to allow people to subscribe to the newsletter when registering on the site. It has a lot of options. I would think they have an easy way to subscribe members in bulk.
