when a member trys to upload images it does not allow. only allows very small pics i have looked in my plug in settings and it shows 51200 as the maximum size what is a good size in pixels recommended?

51200 is about 50k of image size... depends on how much disk space you want to use for images... and what kind of images users want to upload... very good pictures can be done in 100-200k.... but they will come out of a camera often at a couple of Meg... how big dimension wise do you want images? cameras these days will go 4000px x 4000px... but you wont be able to easily view on computer... so your folks may need to compress and decrease dimensions of the image... keep in mind, the larger the image, the longer it will take to load... you could put 0 in the field and there wont be a limitation... but keep in mind what I just said..

i understand what you said about pix size now, however the disk size i am not clear about do i have a limit on disk space or a limitation that would eventually fill up?

disk space availability is driven by the amount of disk space you have with your host on your server... its not a wp or sp limitation... there really is no reason to upload huge files unless your site because of content/nature needs huge images... they will still take time to download...
