if you need a primer on permissions...
the permission is titled: Can view email and IP addresses of members

Sorry to not start off with the right question. I already have the given permission for: Can view email and IP addresses of members, for Standard and Full Access users. When I am logged in as an Admin I can see users email addresses. When I am logged in as a User I can not see other users email addresses.
I am not sure if this is being caused by how I originally set up the users? On the WordPress side I created users as Subscribers to the site, this was done so I could use a plugin WP Hide Dashboard to restrict access to the Dashboard.
On the second point - subscribers is just fine and probably the best role to give your ordinary users. Please note that what 'Hide Dashboard' does can actually be done within the SP Admin (Options > Global Settings) so you may not need the extra plugin unless it gives you other benefits.
The email popup should be available through the forum tools for each post - i.e., the small icon that appears over on the left (by default) within each row. Is this not showing up for your users?

OK, finally realized that when signed in as a user and activate the "Open the forum toolset" button you can click on it and then get the option to see Users email and IP address.
But when I click on the users Profile I can't see their email address. Is there anyway that a user can see another users email address when they view the other person profile? When I am signed in as an administrator I see their email address under Contact "John Doe".
actually, in all of our supplied themes it is already in the popup profile (and the edit profile) pages... its displayed by template function:
sp_ProfileShowEmail()
however, it looks like the template function does not check the permission for displaying it... it simply checks if an admin or if you clear the adminOnly argument to the function... so you can display it, just its either to admins or everyone... probably best if it checks the permission...
