Forum is at http://www.sharinghousing.com/forum-3.

I'm sure it's in the options for permissions, usergroups and mapping but I don't know what the issue is. I can't figure it out.

My  registered members should be able to reply to a topic, but aren't getting the button to allow it.

What's the problem? I made screenshots for diagnosis but they are too big for uploading.

Thanks,

Annamarie

think you nailed it - permissions...

a bit more info on mapping:  http://codex.simple-press.com/.....ng-access/

are registered members all in the same usergroup? if so look at the usergroup and permission set that you applied to each forum you wan them to have access to...

I've read that and read it and read it.

I have a simple structure: visitors, members, moderators

One forum. People who register become subscribers. Subscribers are mapped to Members. I'm using standard access permissions.

I've reset permissions. Nada. I'm sure its a keystroke that I'm missing but I've spent HOURS looking for it. Screenshots attached. What am I missing?

It looks right but it also looks off. Absolutely no reason why it should be that comes to mind but something is wrong there with the authorisation categories - you will see all the 'viewing' permissions sitting under the 'General' heading. This is not as it should be.

Can we try this please" Go to the forum admin > Permissions section and open the 'reset permissions' panel - and click on the blue button to run the action.

Then go to Manage Groups and Forums and re0create the relationship on your forum between the user group and the permission set.

Does this put things right?

And if not - which version of Simple:Press is this

Nice that you are awake!  I actually already did the reset permissions before posting last time. But I did as you requested.. For the first time I realized that I needed to also set permissions for visitors as well as "members".  D'oh.

Seems to be working now.

But while I have your attention, the arrangement of "group" and "forum" I find confusing.  I gather I don't have to do anything with group permissions?

But if I were to create 6 forums in one group I could apply the same permissions by doing at the group level rather than each forum?

Thanks!

You should not need to set up guests if you do not intend to allow for non-registered users - although you have more flexibility of you do.

Yes - permissions set up at Group level will be automatically applied to any new forums created under the group so it is worth setting them up in readiness for any new forums.
