This is a heads-up that we've found a minor issue with "Insert/edit image" on Safari and Google Chrome. While under Firefox and IE simply pasting the image URL is sufficient to post an image in Safari and Google Chrome users must also provide the image dimensions. If those are missing a broken image link appears.
The dimensions can be automatically pulled by simply clicking in "Image Description", which is easy enough. But this minor detail has caused quite a bit of headache on our ecourse site as I am working in Firefox on a PC hence did not notice that, but several students use Macs and kept reporting that inserting images isn't working.
I will perhaps need to know more of the sequence your user(s) make as using Chrome on a Mac OSX inserting a remote image using the TinyMCE 'Insert Image' toolbar button and dialog works just fine with just pasting the URL and then immediately clicking the Insert button.
Actually I have never had a problem with either Chrome of Safari and have no other reports of this sort of behaviour which has not changed for many years.
Is this by any chance the same user who has had the PM issues? Just a thought...

No, this is not the same user as in the previous issue, this is indeed a confirmed issue from my side as I tested it on my wife's iMac just 30 minutes ago. She showed that pasting an image link and clicking "Insert" leads to a broken image in Safari. We tried several times, always with the same result. This same issue is reported by many Mac users now on our forum.
I reproduced the same behavior under Chrome on my PC. No special steps just "Add Reply" > click "Insert/edit image" > paste URL under "Image URL" > click "Insert" > broken image (blue box with question mark).
I just downloaded Safari for my PC, will test there as well.
Is this all with the same image url?
Sorry - but I am unable to reproduce this on any platform using any machine and OS. Nor can anyone else or we would have been swamped with the issue.
So - what is the image url being used please..? Or a sample url. And if not the same image are they from the same server?

This happens with any image URL in Safari. Examples:

I am posting each below via "Insert/edit image" in Chrome on PC to test (in the order listed):
Alright, here's what's actually happening. The first time around it doesn't work, with any image link, neither Google Chrome on PC nor Safari on Mac. BUT, if the image is inserted again it now pulls (and actually pulls twice if the previous one showed as broken). We checked with several users who ran into this issue and they confirmed that on second try it worked. I checked on my wife's Mac / Safari as well and first try > broken image. Second try > fine, for all the same links. Quite odd that is.
