I have a strange problem that you may not be able to help me with because I suspect it may be a Wordpress issue, but wanted to run it by you first. I have a user who is listed on the list of forum users, but has strangely disappeared from the Wordpress User list. I have tried to add her back in but it will not let me because it says the email address is already registered to a user, despite that user not appearing in the list.
Do you have any ideas???

Nothing I have come across before I have to admit.
I would start by going to the WordPress admin > Users > All users and putting this missing member email address in the search box at the top of the page and see what it finds. It does include the email address in searching so if the email address is, indeed, in use it should find the user it is attached to.

Most strange. I think this might be one for the WordPress forums. Although if you are using some sort of membership plugin you may want to investigate that route first.
But you were correct at the top of the thread - creating and maintaining the user is core WordPress as is the message about the email address being in use. I have not encountered or heard of this problem before and would be most interested in the explanation when the cause becomes known.
