Good morning from Spain

We have a very annoying problem with our forum.

The first install was last year in September. Everything went o.k. and we upgraded 1 month ago to the latest version with no problems. But then I deleted a usergroup, because I detected that somebody of this group appears as a moderator with moderator permissions every time he posts.

Now, everybody from this deleted group seems to get automatically access as a moderator, having only the same permissions than every normal member in the normal member group. Former and new members do not cause this problem.

We have configured and reconfigured everything 50 times - no way to solve the problem.

Any idea??? Thanks.

Good afternoon,

We have Version 5.1.3. installed

We have 2 Forums - one is public one is private

Now we have 3 usergroups.

1. Guests - only reading access. Have to register

2. Members - Standard access to public forum. No access to private Forum

3. Moderator - Moderator access - public and private.

The deleted group we called "Affiliate Managers" They had "full access"

We deleted that - because we did not need it.

But now the former "Affiliate Managers" get into the private forum - which they never could before.

New users get mapped into members.

Default usergroup membership:

Default usergroup for guests: Guests

Default usergroup for new members: Members

Usergroup memberships based on WP role:

Default usergroup for administrator: Moderators

Default usergroup for editor: Moderators

Default usergroup for author: Members

Default usergroup for contributor: Members

Default usergroup for subscriber: Members

The funny thing is, that the former "Affiliate Manager" apears in the personal information as "Member" even if they are logged in - but change status to "Moderator" as soon as they post. Grrrr. twisted

as soon as they post?  so what do you have set up for forum ranks??  thats the only thing that would change memberships based on posting... check forum - components - forum ranks...  when users post you can set it up to auto give them membership in a new usegroup if they attain a rank...

so yeah... as soon as they hit 1 post, you have them assigned to the moderators usergroup...

change both of those ranks to either not set (or whatever the words are) or just make it members...  but first would be better to keep from doing any auto assignment...   this will put it back to the default too...

Uuuuuups - and I thought that a member needs 10000 posts to get to the moderator usergroup.

Mamamia - But a normal, former member coud not get to the private forums, never. The former "Affiliate Manager" group only.

Anyway - I changed to "No automatic usergroup Membership" , we see what happens. Thank you very much.

Have a nice day.
