Not sure why,
you can tick both options to reply to own and existing topics in permissions which seem to contradict each other. I've attached the moderator settings which don't match the permissions I gave them on the forum. They have cleared cache and cookies.

Uploading images here isn't easy. I can click on the image icon but it won't let you choose a file on your PC.

Uncheck the "can only reply to own topics". That's probably overriding the others.

not sure why image uploading is not easy... we get multiple per day... would need more info as to what difficulties you are having...
Kimi is correct.... you are limiting users to only be able to reply their own topics (ie topics they started)...

"can only reply to own topics". is not checked for moderators. The image is what the moderators see but it's unchecked on my forum admin. I said that when I posted I think.

I'm trying to add an image but it just says 'source' and nothing else. I can't choose a folder on my PC.

let's try some basic housekeeping.
Go to the forum admin > Toolbox > Housekeeping and click on the task to reset the user auths cache. This will cl;ear out the cache of permissions just in case an update failed to do it - and rebuild them. See if that shifts things at all.
The 'image' button on the editor toolbar is for adding a link to an external image. You need to know the url of the image. If you want to actually upload an image to our server then you need to use the attachment button beneath the editing window.
