I'm developing a new site and have WP installed in a sub-directory off the root (public_html/wp_dev).
I want to install SP, to get it formatted and up and running... but then I need to move the whole WP install to the root.
What will I need to change in the SP configuration when I do that?

Your main issue will be a very small handful of urls that are held in serialised arrays in the SP options table. I think what you need to do is after the move quickly examine every admin panel and look for trashed settings which may happen if there is a url in the data that has had it's string length changed. So you may need to reset a few options here and there but it should be minimal and it should be quick to correct.
You will need to go to the forum admin > Integration and update the forum permalink.
You will also need to visit the forum admin > toolbox > housekeeping and reset the profile tabs and menus because we have to keep a actual path to those files so it will need to be rebuilt.
I think that may be it...
