Typically email notifications go out as expected. When there is new content added subscribed members get one email notification. Recently, subscribed members are getting multiple duplicate emails (largest so far was 13 duplicates) for new content. This problem is intermittent.
My host is hostgator and the email is admin@ctsurrogate.org (site ctsurrogate.org).
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
first such report, so need to understand any local issues… is this topic subs or forum subs? digests or individual notices?
The ones I’ve noticed “New post on a forum or topic you are subscribed to at Connecticut Surrogate Parent Forum”. They appear to be reply’s to an existing Topic. The forum is moderated so the notifications aren’t generated until they are approved.
and you are sure they are for an explicit new post? that is not one for each new post in the topic… if 4 folks reply to a new topic, you will get 4 emails – one per reply… if you want more like summaries, then you should try the digests…
but assuming above is not the issue, can you check the database… in sftopics for this topic id (use the forum tools – properties), what is the value of the topic_subs column?

check the database… in sftopics for this topic id (use the forum tools – properties), what is the value of the topic_subs column
you need to inspect the data in your db… this is typically done with phpmyadmin or other db tool… your host has certainly provided you with a means for looking at the db…
remember, SP does not send any emails… wp sends them… we of course tell them to send them… but I want to see if you have multiple subscriptions some how per user…
The value appears to be null for the reply (westport-alternative-high-schools) that had multiple notification emails sent.
so are you allowing forum subscriptions then? if so, would be interested in the forum_subs column of sfforums fpr that forum id of 1…
