Multiple Smiley Codes?

Hi,

Is it possible to have multiple codes for a single smiley? For example, I'd like both 🙂 and 🙂 to show the same image.

Also, using a "/" symbol in a smiley code seems to cause an issue with displaying any smiley in the post (or any post for that matter).

Thanks.

oh wow... no, afraid its one image per smiley...  you can of course upload the same image with slightly different name and get the same effect...  I have noted this in case we go in and touch the smiley UI...

hmmm... what happens if you use that character?  in the post...  and how does it save on the smileys admin panel?

will open a ticket for investigation as to that character causing issues...

Thanks for the response. Good idea on the multiple images, I'll give that a go.

When using the / character, there are no issues on the smileys admin panel at all. It displays fine and it saves fine also. The problem occurs in the actual forum post. For example if I use the :/ characters for confused, then what happens in the post is as shown in the attached image. Note it doesn't affect just the smiley with the character, but all smileys in every post.

Obviously I can use another character but just thought I'd bring it to your attention anyway 🙂

Using the TinyMCE editor. I've not tried it with the plain editor but I will give that a go and post back later.

Certainly doing this with the tinyMCE editor I am unable to replicate your problem. It makes me wonder if you have another WP plugin that might be applying some sort of textual filter to the page content.

well, I am able to recreate the problem...  If I make my smiley code :/ it will indeed mess up...

but that is a limitation that is known currently... did you check the popup help on the admin page?  the problem comes in that it gets confused with the same characters being in a link...

so someday we want to improve the regex but just not sure when...  ticket is open, so maybe that will drive us to work it...  regex sucks kiss
