Preliminary tests on our dev install appear to be successful. After the patch, there seems to be no adverse affect on forum use or site creation. And deletion of a user's site retained forum stats, user group and permissions for the account.
I'll deploy this on our live site and report back if I encounter anything unusual

FYI Only... When one of our deleted users re-registered for our site, they could not join the forums with the sanme username. She was able to register via WP with the previous name (e.g.; userx), but when added to the forums, she became userx_2.
Only after tracking down the old user ID and deleting that row from sfmembers could I change that user's display name via the SF Admin.
Sorry for the late update. I realize all of this may have been resolved in v.5.4, which I am upgrading to now.

I believe so... but 5.4 did introduce a different minor bug deleting a user where the row is not removed from the sfmembers table... so that could get you too... but we can give you a fix for that...
