My hosting provider took down one of my websites because it was using too much of the server's resources. It appeared that Simple-Press calls to the server may have been the problem. After an hour or so, they put it back up and, as a "courtesy", installed WP Super Cache. Unfortunately, replies to existing posts were not showing up immediately and it took me awhile to figure our that it was due to the cache plugin.
I would like some recommendations on how to setup either WP Super Cache or W3 Total Cache to work with Simple-Press.
Thanks in advance.
Rick
you wont be able to use wp super cache of w3 total cache with simple press... They are not sophisticated enough...
Since Simple Press displays all forum content on a single wp page, those caching plugins cache that single wp page... but each page view is dynamic so caching it is of no value either... SP does a bunch of its own internal caching...
You would be better off setting up some php opcode caching on your server such as memcache or APC....but if this is shared hosting, unlikely your host would do it...

You should be able to use W3 Total Cache (imo and many others, the best caching program for WP.) All you need to do is on Page-Cache, tell it not to cache your forum page's slug (ie if your Forum's root slug is /forum) just enter "forum" without quotes and W3 Total Cache should ignore the entire message board.
Obviously that still leaves you looking for caching solutions for the forum, but you can still use it to manage the rest of your site/database caching, CDN, and CloudFlare settings.
