Good Evening

Forum URL:  http://www.nonprofit-software......ces/forum/

Issues:

-1- When select Forum it redirects to page not found, instead of self managing the dynamic URLs for the forum

-2-  I have set:  Group,, Forum, User Group  according to Codex Pages and as you can see when you access page it does not show the forum

--  User Group "Guest"  permissions have been set for the Group & Forum to "Read Only"  and one cannot see the Group/Forum at the Guest level

--  Even when I elevate Guest to  Standard Access I can not view the Group/Forum  form a non-logged (wordpress) in browser

Theme:  Dejavu  by  http://www.mysitemyway.com

Thoughts please.

Thank you

Joe Johnson

Mr Papa

I will start there and follow up after I have reviewed it carefully

I am keeping the install simple till it is all configured.    No-Redirection  No-Yoast

   Caching -   In the  WP-Config  file   I have:      define('WP_CACHE', true);

Thanks

I did the following as recommended & no luck.    Also Any thoughts on  -2-   from original post ?    Thanks in advance

Forum -  Page Not Found

  • The WordPress Rewrite Rules Need Flushing   -    DID NOT FIX
  • Have You Had A Different Forum Installed Before?    -  NO
  • Check Your Forum Page Slug   -  CHECKED
  •  Does the Forum Page Exist    -  YES
  • No redirection plugin

 .htaccess    File Below

# BEGIN WordPress

<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>

RewriteEngine On

RewriteBase /

RewriteRule ^index\.php$ - [L]

RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f

RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d

RewriteRule . /index.php [L]

</IfModule>

# END WordPress

So - just made a visit and I see it is getting there and not 404'ing now. What was the issue?

Do you have your forum permalink set up correctly on the admin Integration > Page and Permalink panel? This is assuming you have set the 'forum' page to be a sub-page of 'resources' which does need to bet set correctly.

Yellow  Swordfish

Thanks for responding.  Yes it is set correctly.  Also any thoughts on the  Viewing permissions.    When I am logged into wordpress I can see the listed Group/Forum  but fro another  browser "Guest"  they are not visible.   I can give you local computer control is you would like to get on my system.  Use Citrix.   Current Time:  9:21 am EST

Good Afternoon

I tried all recommendations.

I am a fairly strong wordpress user and the Theme I am using is solid and with excellent documentation and code notes.   I am perplexed because this is a simple plugin setup.

I really like the framework of your forum and want to recommend a bundle to my nonprofit clients:  MySiteMyWay.com / Simple-Prees / WishList.    In my search and research yours is highly mentioned.

I am anxious to use your Simple:Press forum and look forward to getting some simple issue correctd.   Is there any info that I could look at in particular to the Theme that may be causing this.  Although the Theme being used is a uniquely good one and well coded.    http://www.mysitemyway.com   Dejavu     Does JQuery impact in any manner ?

>>-------Forum Redirect-------------
I tried also creating the Forum page manually and it redirects to it but the Forum framework does not show.

>>-------- Permissions and Viewing--------
In the original post I articulated that I set the Guest to the below so that I could ascertain if a normal viewer could see the Group/Forum is they were not logged in.   And even with those more open guest settings, the Group/Forum does not show.  Thoughts on this ?
-----Permission Setting-----
Can view a forum
Can view a list of forums only
Can view a list of forums and list of topics only
Can view posts by an administrator
Can start new topics in a forum
Can reply to existing topics in a forum
Can edit own topic titles
----Screen Messages-------
- The requested group does not exist or you do not have permission to view it
- Unread and recently updated topics
- There were no topics found

>>--------Other Attempts-----------
I did uninstall & reinstall.   No affect.   I did get on the 2nd reinstall a Header File Message but I FTP'ed the plug-in instead of using the wordpress upload.   Loaded fine.

Thank you

PS  I can provide you a secure citrix connection if you would like to connect quickly and see what I am experiencing.   I am working this afternoon if that would work.

so right now, we do not see the issue... sounds like that might be because we cannot view past the main forum page on your site...

so as to permissions, if you are having redirection issues, probably better to solve it first...

so you have caching set true in wp config?  are you running a caching plugin?  if so, you cannot cache the forum page as its dynamically generated...  so if running a caching plugin, need to tell it to ignore and not cache the forum page...

real quick on permissions...  sounds like you have configured the permissions... have you actually assigned a permission and usergroup to each forum?
