Hi. We’ve recently switched from bbPress to Simple:Press. We have over 4,000 users and it was quite a job to convert. We’re live now, but the existing users are having problems replying and starting topics. I’ve checked their user role and permissions and there shouldn’t be any reason they can’t. They are classified as Subscribers (for the most part), and new registrants (who are automatically given the role of Subscriber) aren’t having any problem.
We’ve discovered two ways to work around this.
1. Existing users can reset their password, and for some mysterious reason this then allows them their proper permissions (which include replying and starting topics).
2. We can manually change their role from Subscriber to Customer (don’t ask me why this works) and they are then free to reply & start topics.
With so many users, neither of these options are ideal and I’m posting here, hoping someone might have a more efficient way to deal with this issue.
