New user (created from WP Dashboard/NewUser) not getting email confirmation (until SP New User Email unchecked)

I create a new user using WP. The site admin gets an email, but the new user doesn't. I thought at first this was related to using @mailinator mailbox for testing, but it happens with 'real' email addresses.

I've now found that if I uncheck "Use the Simple:Press new user email version" in Options/Email Settings, the new user gets the email.

I don't think this is a great problem as the forum is just a part of what they get access to, so they don't need the SP email. But I thought you might be interested.

no other reports of this, and just tested it...

so perhaps you had the email options on forum - options - email settings misconfigured?  if enabled, you have to have proper email settings in there...
