Now you confuse me. I am sorry.

I changed exactly what Mr. Papa described in Post 3 of the Thread you provided yourself to me as a solution above. And sent the file via attachement for review.

Before I start to change something different, and increase the confusion, I would prefer, that you change what you believe needs to be changed, and sent me the new files via attachement, as I did with my version.

I will then gladly replace whatever you want me to replace and will gladly give feedback.

I think, this is a much less errorprone path, as me changing, what I am not 100% sure of. I cant even guarantee, that I interpret your description correctly.

Thanks!

I will have to go through the svn change log first to make sure there are no other changes to the file in question. If there are then no - I wont be able to really send it.

I was just really hoping - you being a long-standing techie and all 🙂 - you would be able to confirm the fix - you have to remember that nobody here and most people can not replicate the issue.

I will see what I can do.

I am happy to do the change myself, if you precisely describe, what I should do where.

Please keep in mind, that being able to program assembler and having code written for the kernel of long standing operating systems, does not necessarily mean, that I have experience with Web programming and wordpress scripts. In fact, I have few to none, as this never interested me.

Sure I could theoretically dig myself into, as all this is not quite different as many scripting languages I know. But this needs time I dont have and effort, I am not willing to spend - as i said earlier, life is too short. 😉

So I made my proposal simple to minimize potential missunderstanding, as every description creates an additional layer of communication complexity.

But if you are willing to provide a precise description of the changes to be made:

where and how, step by step

I am happy to implement them by myself and report.

You could start by explaining, why the fix from Mr. Papa in the thread you directed yourself to me, is not what it should be and not my problem. From the few sentences you gave, I am still wondering.

Maybe if you fill me in in more detail, I am able to be of more help. But as long as I dont fully understand the issue, my experience tells me, that it doesnt make a lot of sense to fumble in the code, without exactly knowing what it is supposed to be and why this is necessary.

Therefore my proposal to make the changes on your side and sent them to me, as this should save time on both sides. But a good explanation is fine to me as well.

The code changes that were the target of the original fix are to correct problems on the 'front end' of your website. In other words that side facing the public. As you may have read - the need for these came as a bit of a surprise to us and still seems to only effect a very small number of people.

When your post came in noting you had the issue an assumption was made here that you had the same problem. It was only looking more closely at the error message that I noticed the file in question was NOT the one we asked you to edit before. You clearly were seeing the same problem but in the back-end of your website - i.e., the administrative side.

This was new at the time and a surprise - although no more of a surprise than the original front-end issue. I can also now confirm that the fix for this back-end occurrence does work and has already been incorporated into the code for the next update. So if you prefer to wait for that then, of course, that is your choice. However - if you want to apply the fix then it is as described above - repeated here below.

File: /admin/panel-profiles/forms/spa-profiles-options-form.php

At the top of the code - where the function declaration is add the line below so it becomes:

function spa_profiles_options_form() {
    include_once(ABSPATH.'wp-admin/includes/plugin.php');
?>

That's it.

Ah!!

Now I understand the confusion. Maybe the information was already there before, but it was "between" the lines and not crystal clear to me.

Thanks, a few more lines of context always help. 😉

I changed the file as you described and can confirm, that the fix works.

Case closed. Thanks again!
