Yellow, Mr Papa,

Things worked fine until Register Plus Redux quit working. When that happened, I had to find an alternative login/registration plugin. All of the many plugins I have installed (and deleted) all have the same issue, new users aren't granted auto-membership like they are supposed to as stated in the sp-admin panel. This is incredibly frustrating to say the least. Can you have a look in my sp-admin to see if there is something that I am missing? And/or, can you suggest a free registration/login plugin that is an adequate alternative to the now defunct Register Plus Redux?

I look forward to hearing from you. Thank you.

User group assignment worked fine before and - as I suggested - you can test that by simply trying with the standard WP registration as a test. If, as you have stated, you changed nothing - then it should still work.

I am sorry but we can't be responsible for the deficiencies of other peoples plugins. The best and most helpful course of action would be for you to have a go at the author of that plugin to have the proper WP api support put into place where it should be. It is such a simple and easy task for them to do as they know their own code. It is not as if they have to rewrite the thing.

If you want to find alternatives then the only ones we have every looked at were 'Register Plus' and 'Sabre'. I was sad to see the demise of the former and I am not sure of the status of the latter. I also don't know, of course what 'all the plugins you have installed' are.

Your best course of action - it seems to me - would be to settle on using the proper WP registration temporarily while you discuss getting the right support added to the plugin you want to use.

This is just terrible. No matter what plugin I use, all new users require a manual add to the membership list. I have contacted the author of the latest plugin, Pie Register, (which is almost identical to Register Plus Redux), and have requested that they input the proper WP api as you have recommended. Why is it that no matter what plugin I use, my problem is the same? It can't possibly be that all plugins are missing the proper api?

I am trying to install a login/registration plugin to my wp-admin install that enables new registrants to become members automatically. Currently, when they register, no matter what plugin I use, they are "no membership" status and I have to go in and manually add them. My SP-admin is set up to enable membership status for all registered users but it isn't translating.

So far, this issue is consistent with the following login/registration plugins:

Cimy User Extra Fields (no-membership status upon registration)
WP-Members (no-membership status upon registration)
SimpleModal Login (no-membership status upon registration)
Pie Register (same login username/password error message as Login Plus Redux)
Login Plus Redux(same login username/password error message as Pie Register)

let's step back..  you said you want registrations to auto get moved to sp usergroup at registration...  you do not need any wp plugin to accomplish that...  SP works that way by default...

still waiting for your feedback on my post #20 question... might post screenshot of that options panel...

also, on wp - settings - general, what is the default role for new subscribers?  you need to use that info and the forum - options - member settings panel to auto assign to usergroup...

how about forum ranks?  do you have any forum ranks that might be adjusting that membership?

since this is seemingly (only since working great for others) local issue, can you give us wp/sp admin access?

please make sure any other membership or registration plugins are not active since it does not sound like you really need them...

I have been asking for confirmation that this works correctly using the standard WP registration...?

PM Sent with access credentials.

Mr Papa,

I haven't had any issues with forum ranks.

Yellow Swordfish,

Using WP-registration doesn't seem to fix the issue either.
