I don’t see the ability to send my WP Post to a Forum section. Is this going to require a Plugin?

send wp post to forum?  do you mean have wp blog post cross posted to a forum topic?  If so, please check out our Blog Linking plugin for simple press which does just this…  and vice versa… can also have a new forum topic become a wp blog post…  and comments can be shared…

How do I change the blue round dot to a custom icon? I tried where it would logically seem but no luck. 

As far as the remaining 6 plugins that I have, what do you recommend? Also, my request to have a email notification of every blog posted, I want approve them first.  Is there a way to get an email notification that when a new users signs up that I have to approve them?

glad you found it…

blue round dot???  do you mean the conversation icon???  

if so, multiple ways…  

first, each theme comes with those icons… you can simply replace the icon with your own in the theme….

second, and the more approved way, is that each forum can set its own custom icons for the forum or topics…  you do have to supply the icons (see ours here)…  you can upload them on forum – forums – custom icons… then when you create or edit a forum, you can specify to use the custom icons…  the same applies to groups btw…

as to plugins, it really depends on what you want to do…  personally, couldnt do with out the tinymce editor, private messaging, subscriptions and file uploader…  others too, but again depends on what you want to do…

OK.. Here’s a helpful bit of information, you refer me to the FAQ section about permissions.

Why don’t you TELL THE FORUM (NEW USER) where in the HECK you find these settings?  Where? What section? BE CLEAR AND SPECIFIC… Rather than assume everyone knows where to change it. Where do you make the changes? What section?>>>”?????

I really like the theme and icons that this forum is using. I bought the 2 premium themes. Are any of them the ones used here? Also, are the icons included please? I’ll try and answer some of the above…

Plugins
See post #5. I agree with Mr Papa’s list. But… that is as far as our own forum goes. If, for example, you will not be allowing your users to upload images/files to your server then it would be pointless installing the file uploader plugin. You really do need to decide for yourself what you need.

Themes
The theme we use here is called ‘Reboot’ and is one of our premium and fully responsive (mobile) themes. We use the ‘Orange’ overlay bit there are several others. Icons are supplied but – as stated above – you are free to change all of any of them as you prefer.

User Approval
You mentioned wanting to approve new users. Users are NOT the province of Simple:Press – they are controlled by your WordPress site for which Simple:Press is merely a plugin. You will need to investigate membership or sign-up plugins to achieve this.

Installing Plugins
It would be most unusual for us to install plugins for you. And it really is straightforward and easy. If you really feel you require help please send a PM to the forum admins here (all 3 of us) with a detailed list of what you need and we can prepare a quote for the work.

Post Moderation FAQ
For users new to Simple:Press there is a complete ‘Getting Started’ section in our codex (see menu in the sidebar) which covers the basics including a section on permissions and user access control. We recommend spending a few minutes looking through these pages to better understand the forum relationships and stricture.

A few questions. I have the Mobile Reboot theme in Orange, but.. I don’t have the Icons that are in the pictures, I get a default computer if I remove mine I have now. Where are those icons that are in the pictures associated with the theme please?

I explained in post #5 how to handle custom icons…  each group/forum allows you to define custom icons… but you must, of course, supply these icons… each theme comes with default icons, but you can use your own…

All posts from anyone using this permission who can post will immediately show up in the forum without moderation.

Well – like it says – they are ‘permissions’. So you change them in the forum admin Permissions > Manage Permissions Sets. You change the one(s) you want to use within your forums. For more information see the Getting Started section of our codex.

Hi.. So those icons on the them for this forum are “Custom” ones that Simple Press procured and installed right? That was my question originally asked about the them you uses and icons that show in the add for the theme as if they are INCLUDED with the theme -that is misleading if they are not which you appear to confirm?

I am not really sure what you mean – and am particularly not sure what is misleading,

There is a complete set of icons that come with every theme. I assume you have these and they show up.

You can change any icon simply by replacing it.

As to the specific icons for individual forum groups and forums – these can be added top the forum as you please. The ones we use here I made myself. These are created to be extremely specific to our own forum needs so if you think you have been ‘mislead’ over these then I really don’t understand the objection. These are customised for specific uses.

Many, many of our users create custom icons for their forums and, indeed, we have also created icon sets for some users at their request. How could we possibly pre-supply any but default ones? It would be senseless.
