No "Browse" button on image uploader dialog box?

Annoyingly, I cant get a file browser button to appear on my "Upload" dialogue box.

I have installed the TinyMCE editor and the little Tree icon is there. I click on to add an image, but there is no "browse" feature, only an "Image URL" input field there.

It doesn't show on here either! I have uploaded it using the "Upload Attachments" button under the post editor, which isn't on my forum either.

I am using Google Chrome 21.0.1180.83 m as a browser (I have checked in Firefox and IE as well.)

Any suggestions please?

The editor image inserter is intended for when you are wanting to link to a remote image.
For uploading you need to install the SP File Uploader plugin.
If you are new to installing SP plugins then you can find details on our Codex - Plugins section - Using Plugins.

I have the plug in as suggested. However, there is still no "Browse" button next to the image URL input box.

I note that from the "instructions" I was following, that the process appears to have changed to "Upload Attachments" button below the post.

Surely this makes the "Image Upload" Tree icon redundant?

It is very misleading. It seems there are two systems working in tandem here, but not integrated properly. It's inconvenient, but hey! I'm only a customer right?yell

Perhaps misleading to some. And if so, then why not just remove it? You have that option. But it can still cater for what is actually says it does - 'insert Image' as opposed to 'upload image'.

I posted a response to your condescending, pile of trash, response Swordfish. How strange to find that rather than being transparent and accepting of criticism, these posts are just removed. Seems you or someone else takes it upon themselves to hide the fact that you need to be told about your attitude. So I'll say it again.

The advertised feature is not available. If that confuses one person, that's one too many.

Removing it does not cure the issue of its failure to provide what has been promoted as one of its "ease of use" features.

People posting to the forum will expect to be posting their own unique content, not merely the URL of something previously posted. The "Browse" button would allow them that facility. Of course, the browse button isn't there, so now they are confused as to how they do it. Confusing to some is confusing to one too many.

People posting on THIS forum are asking for help, not humiliating, dismissive, pathetic suggestions such as you have posted.

Your whole attitude shines through as condescending, "Couldn't-care-less" and frankly, if you were representing my company and I saw such behavior, you would be on the way to looking for new employment.

The "Insert Image" icon on the TinyMCE is misleading at best, and should be addressed, not swept under the carpet funded by people such as myself who are paying to be supported and not dismissed as some whineing sub-educate.

I think you need to take a good hard look at yourself, before looking into what is potentially a damaging issue of selling something that doesn't exist: i.e. A Browse button and a "Support" network.

OK. Unlike you I shall remain polite and keep this post free of insults or offensive language although believe me it is tempting to let rip.

First up nobody removed any posts. While we reserve the right to do so (see the Membership Policy link at the bottom of this page) nobody did so. There was no post. If nothing else I would have been alerted by an email and there has been none until your post (5) which I am responding to now. And believe me I wont bother removing your post 5 either - let it stand there as a testament to your good nature.

You have many times above referred to the button on the tinymce toolbar as an 'image upload' button and the resulting dialog as an 'Uploader'. It is not. It states quite clearly on the tooltip and on the dialog box that it is an image 'inserter'. This has always been the case as far as the tinymce standard editor goes. The addition of an optional 'browse' button requires and has always required a separate plugin. We did, in past versions of Simple:Press supply a separate plugin but it proved to be a security risk and was most unpopular with our users.

For version 5 we created the uploader SP plugin - the basis of which also comes from Moxie (tinyMCE developers) which is more secure, much easier to use and has proven to be very successful. You used it yourself in post 3 thus proving it is not difficult to master.

So far in the life of version 5 you are the only person who seems to be confused by this. You appeared to suggest that the toolbar button was thus redundant. I in turn suggested that if you felt that was the case then you could remove it. This seemed and still seems like a perfectly sensible and workable suggestion to me - especially as we have given you the options to to such a thing in the forum admin.

So - having read this thread through again - including your rant which bought nothing new or constructive to the conversation - I fail to see why you are so enraged.

That's pretty rich coming from someone who's only offer of assistance was "Well remove it then"

I've already written to my credit card company for a refund of the fee based on the premise that I have paid for something I have not received - i.e. support.

Open Source projects such as WordPress were designed to make progress and improve accessibility. Not to make Internet Based Del Boys.

Change from Yellow SwordFish to Yellow Reliant. Far more appropriate and representative of your attitude to customers problems.

Insert Image - insert some image from somewhere other than the computer you're working on. Of course thats what forum users want to do - no hang on, they want to post new content. But they can't because the button that they want to use, the one they have followed all the simple press tutorials on doesn't exist.
