Support Forum
Hi all,
as per title, users cannot see the Subscription Options Radio Buttons to choice which and when receive mails from subscriptions, using Explorer 8 and 9, as per screenshoots.
I'm trying to persuade user to abandon IE but 50% of them still are using and in some case (office connection) cannot switch too.
I receive complains from all IE users but consider only IE 8 and 9 ones, the 6 and 7 I don' t care, anyway 8/9 are the mostly part of them and need this function.
I use CSS Only theme (slightly modified commenting some feature to fit mobile devices) , SP 5.1.4, WP 2.4.2 and PHP 5.4+.
In case, this is the forum http://simfly.it/forum/ , Steve still has admin capabilities, in case need other infos, please let me know.
Thanks in advance
Marco

some interesting things going on in your site... first something called fastbutton is throwing js errors...
you are running something called quick cache
<!-- This Quick Cache file was built for ( simfly.it/forum/ ) in 1.33089 seconds, on Nov 5th, 2012 at 7:23 pm CET. -->
<!-- This Quick Cache file will automatically expire ( and be re-built automatically ) on Nov 12th, 2012 at 7:23 pm CET -->
<!-- +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ -->
<!-- Quick Cache Is Fully Functional ... A Quick Cache file was just served for ( simfly.it/forum/ ) in 0.00170 seconds, on Nov 11th, 2012 at 4:18 pm UTC. -->
have you told it to NOT cache the forum page? have not see a wp caching plugin yet that can cache the forum properly... this is due to the forum page being dynamically generated unlike typical wp pages...
Also something on your site it is including ALL of the forum CSS into the head tags of a page load... why?? that is not going to be faster/better than a standard style tag load of the css file... so are you running some kind of minify plugin too?? again, have not really had much success with those either (and the forum js is already minified)... please tell you rminify plugin to ignore the forum scripts...
And you site has some special IE css loaded...
In IE I get additional errors from something called ubermenu...
so I think first step is to square all those errors, probably from caching or minifying...

Hi Steve and thanks for replying so fast.
1) Yes, I use Quick Cache, that is a good cache system, but it shouldn't cache anything about forum directory, of course forum is dynamic so caching it should be useless. I excluded forum directory from settings but seems that I wrong something in configuration, I corrected (hope) now and cleared cache.
2) Regarding IE CSS you're right, it's an idea of theme developer because theme was incompatible with SP theme in IE and simply was not using it showing plain text, so adding the complete CSS in header.php, it forces theme to upload it.
I don't like this solution and also I don't like that it's uploaded in all pages and in all browsers but don't know how to solve, any advice to avoid this behavior should be welcome.
3) About minify plugin, actually I used one (better wp minify) but it's deactivated a couple of weeks ago so don't think that it's working (now reactivated and flushed its cache too), anyway I'll need to reactivate it soon due of site performances, and to avoid minifying a script it asks for the script's handle, what is the script handle of Simple Press?
4) Ubermenu it's great mega menu plugin and I need it to manage the menu that will become more complex too, I'll check if I can do something with configuration.
This site has 35 active plugins so far and I realize that can have many conflicts, mainly JS, the problem is that conflicts actually block some SP function that is the most important plugin used in this site, so I need it working 100%, for this I ask for your help.
(un)fortunately I don't use windows so cannot test immediately in IE, now I flushed caches and will test asap.
Thanks

So far I could only try with all plugins deactivated, apart SP and the problem persists, with both IE 8 and 9.
Now I'll try changing theme and use Twenty Eleven but have to wait when there are not users online and have a IE user available to perform tests, I'll need a bit of time.
If also this test will be negative, I'll send you back credentials again to your address.
Thanks for assistance

Ok, I tried switching theme and the problem disappeared, so the issue is because of theme incompatibility.
Arthemia, the theme, is one of the most magazine theme used worldwide, I thought was a warrant of work, by now I cannot change it anymore.
I don't know what to do as, last time, their solution was to incorporate the whole IE CSS code in header.php and seems that this solution, even if it's ugly, also doesn't works completely.
I know that it's not your duty, but have you some advice?
Thanks in advance

have you sent us account credentials so we can try to post? so its theme related? wonder if js or css? might be able to work around it...

Thanks Steve,
I didn't sent credentials because now I see that this is not directly forum related so you are not obliged to waste time on my problems, anyway, as you are so kind, I send it now, thanks in advance.
Actually I don't know the nature of the problem because only switched theme for some minute and, in any case, I'm not so skilled to find it out.
I can only suppose that could be a css problem, as this was the first incompatibility problem with this theme (no forum css uploaded at all, in IE) but it's only a hypothesis.
Please let me know if I can do anything
Thanks
