- Not strange at all. We changed the default for new installs but can't really force a change on an update to existing users. You can change it if you so wish of course - but then, you always could.
- Again - no mystery. For existing V4 users all of these options were already built into the core so there will be existing settings. For new V5 installs, these particular options all come with plugins and if they are not installed or active them the permissions pertaining to them will not show up.
- Now the important bit. Clearly and sadly something obviously happened to this table during the upgrade process. My guess is that the entire permissions settings were not simply set to off but removed. Afraid I have no idea why this should be and certainly this seems to be unique to you currently.
So how best to fix. If you know how to get into the databases then you could manually transfer the settings from one to the other (i.e,. your new install to the old install). Or - what I think I would do would be to remove all of the current broken permission sets and rebuild the ones you actually want one at a time. and to be honest, rather than just use our default settings it would be better to think about each permission and who will be using them to hone them as you feel they should be set up.
Sorry you are having these problems and even more sorry that I can not explain the root cause.

1. Ok, cool. And nice, cause now I have changed to the new fresh look!
2. Ah, it's one of those: "it's not a bug - it's a feature!" I like it 🙂
3. I'll track one of my database friends down in the near future (next week) and ask him/problem-with-post-edit-buttoner to help. Will get back to you in this thread on how it goes.
Now our forum is up and running again, after some enginerring work by tech friends. Somehow the database scheme hadn't been updated som columns were missing and one column hade a different name than it should have had. Hopefully we havent missed to many differences now from how it should look, but at least it works for now.
