we are trying to set our forum's permissions so that guest can view a list of forums and list of topics, but when they want to further read the content of any topic, they will be redirected to another page where we can clearly point out that it's "NO ACCESS , pls log in first" or something like that.
i know the forum permission can be set to read only, but when guest further click into the topics, it just shows BLANK. which sometimes seems like that the topic just has no content....
we need it to be able to show the message of "No access for nonmemebers, pls log in or register"
anything we can do??

you want:
Can view a list of forums and list of topics only
or
Can view a list of forums only
the first lets them see the list of forums and the list of topics... the second only lets them see the list of forums... neither lets them see the post content...
then on forum - components - custom messages, you can define the message they see instead of the forum content or you can redirect them to a sign up page... in both case, you dont want the Can view forum option enabled..
