Nothing happens when I click "Upload Avatar"
sounds like a js/jquery conflict...

is the file getting uploaded to the avatar storage location as shown on forum - integration - storage locations...

I can not check for actual errors as after many attempts the pages never finish loading and errors are only reported when the page is finished...
But looking at the source i CAN tell you that your theme is improperly loading a copy of the jQuery UI library which may or may not have a bearing on your issue but if not, will probably impact other items.
You did not answer Steve's question however on whether the file did actually get uploaded even if nothing appeared to happen.
