Hi,
Here's an odd issue we're having which I can't figure out a solution to.
1) We have a post that was made as a guest post. It says Awaiting Moderation.
2) So I login as an admin and click the "Approve Post" button on the post. What happens next is odd.
3) I see this error message (http://screencast.com/t/asyjObDiVJP) and the post content disappears. And when scroll to the top of the screen it now shows me as suddenly not logged in like this (http://screencast.com/t/VhrjZBcbJmrI).
4) So I click on the forum topic link at the top of the page to reload the page and it shows me as logged in again, like I was never really logged out.
So I'm concerned because I can't approve this post.
The other concern I have is that I have the SimplePress setting enabled that says: "Disallow members not logged in to post as guest". So I'm wondering why people could still post as guest.
Thanks!

Hi Yellow Swordfish,
No, since this is a membership site only we don't have a caching plugin. We are using WP Member Champ as a membership control, but migrating to Wishlist Member.
I guess one thing I could try is disabling all the plugins but SimplePress and see if that clears the issue.
Should I give that a try?
'Membership Champ' is, I am afraid, a new one on me. It is, I suppose, feasible that it tries to cache something itself and gets it wrong on dynamic data but I am not sure I buy that as an explanation. I was hoping the presence of a cache plugin was the culprit as that is a classic sequence you might see.
To put it bluntly - Simple:Press is simply a WordPress plugin and uses the core WordPress functions to determine if a user is logged in or not. This is al under the control of WP. So if it reports it incorrectly - something else has wedged itself in the way. Caching data is my first instinctive response but I guess a membership plugin may just do something like that.
By the way - sorry - I meant respond to this comment:
The other concern I have is that I have the SimplePress setting enabled that says: “Disallow members not logged in to post as guest”. So I’m wondering why people could still post as guest.
Are you actually saying here that the post in question was written by an actual bona-fide member who was not logged in when they wrote it? Or are you saying the post in question was written by a genuine non-registered user (guest)?

Okay, in regard to the first issue let me try disabling plugins and see if I can spot a culprit.
In regard to the other issue:
Q: Are you actually saying here that the post in question was written by an actual bona-fide member who was not logged in when they wrote it?
A: Yes, correct. For some reason they posted as guest, and I didn't think that was possible. I noticed that even though I thought I had the option to post as guess disabled, when I log out of the forum and visit it I can seemingly post as a guest: http://screencast.com/t/Ah0nsT961
if you want to disable guest post, you need to set permissions for guests to control it... please see: https://simple-press.com/docum.....ng-access/
the option you mentioned previously does not control guest posting - only registered users from posting as a guest...
