...no problem, I've just made one now - it's just over 86Mb as a gzip file, have you perhaps got an ftp site or similar I can upload it to?

Seeing that this thread is old now but I try anyway.
Was the cause of the problem solved? I have exactly the same problem with some posts that are about 1 year old.
Only an Admin can see some old posts in the widget, but you can go around it if the Admin post in the thread and then delete directly.
Rebuild Indexes does not help.

New topic would have been better..

Any caching plugins or widget caching plugins?

Link to site for example?

Sorry not following the delete part - that makes it show up?

All permissions apply - are you sure users can view the post admins can see?

I use Quick Cache pro but the problem also appears when the Quick Cache is disabled.
Sometimes when a user writes in one of the old threads so the thread does not end up in the widget as it should. Admin can see the thread in the widget, but no one else can.
If Admin responds in the thread, it would appear in the widget for all users.
The link to the site is http://www.debattcharlie.se
I am watching it for a while and the next time the problem occurs again I will get back with a pm with the link to the specific thread and login data.
The problem only appears once in a while but it's always just the oldest threads that are affected.

Yes all users can read everything that Admin can

Thanks so far, I will return

To be honest - still confused. I am totally unable to replicate this behaviour and looking again at the DB query that populates the data - and the code that arranges it - there is nothing in there to stop old topics being listed. The only real item that should or might effect it is permission settings. It it is all fairly straightforward.

As an aside I have also tried to load up Quick Cache (not Pro of course) but am unable to test with that active and/or disabled because it just doesn't work for me! Followed all the instructions and I don't think I am daft,  but it just fail's to cache anything!

I understand that.
I'll keep an extra eye for some time and try to collect more data on the phenomenon.
Thanks for the help so far, I will come back later when I have gathered some more details

Thanks. We would very much like to be able to get to the bottom of it...

Now I have got it working but not as I first wanted. There seems no better than that there is something strange with the widget
I deleted the widget "Recent Forum Posts" and placed the Short Code [sp_latest_posts] in a text widget instead.
It works but is not as smooth as it was before.
With this Short Code [sp_latest_posts] also is displayed as an example the time 32 minutes ago. How do I remove (32 minutes ago)? And at the same time limit the topics to five
Have tried using the codes available on http://codex.simple-press.com/codex/plugins/our-plugins/the-template-tags-plugin/template-tag-latest-posts/
but have not succeeded with any of the other codes in the text widget.

The widget was good and easy to set up and I miss it already.
regards

Before going into detail on your question, I would point out that the template tag, short-code and widget ALL call exactly the same code to query and display the data. There will be no difference in the items designated for display so changing from one top the other is not really necessary...
