One username missing & a quote button missing…

Hi,

We’re having two problems, that have been around for quite a while but never got them fixed.

1) One of our members usernames is missing, it just shows the following:

When it should show their username like:

I’ve gone through the settings and made them the same as everyone elses but cannot resolve the problem.

2) We’re missing the “quote” button for some reason, again no idea how or why.

Hey Ryan,

Are there supposed to be screenshots or something pasted after the username? Not seeing anything..

As for the quote button, who’s missing it? Is it a reported from other users or just admins / mods?

I had a quick search for similar issues and the only one I could find had a useful list in:

  1. if a post has been loaded for editing
  2. if a post is awaiting moderation and youy are not an admin
  3. If you do not have permission to reply to posts
  4. If either the forum or the topic is locked and you are not an admin
  5. If the post was made by an admin and you do not have permission to view admin posts
  6. if you can only view own and admin posts but are not an admin or the original post author

I added the pictures, editing my post shows the images: http://i.imgur.com/ShcgfyW.png

As Far as i can see the quote issue isn’t from any of those reasons.

what are you showing for usernames?  check the users profile and see if they have that entered?

Hi Papa,

The Forum settings:

The user settings:

It’s actually an admin account and in this example I’ve just changed the usernames to words, everything else is the same though.

I can give access via PM if you’d like to see a cloned version of the forum so you can see the problems and possibly advise how to resolve.

so you are just displaying the user login for the display name…  and you removed it from the second screenshot? not really a secret if thats what you are showing? 😉

no special chars in the user login?  ie valid display characters?

are the wp display name and sp display name synced up?  you would have to look at profile tab of the forum options…  and curious to know on forum profile – edit profile what you have set for the display name…   just want to make sure nothing odd since its an admin…

I don’t get what you mean… I “removed” the username for example purposes.

There are no special characters in the username, what you see in the screenshot is directly comparable, it’s only got a dash in the username and also in the nickname, but there’s other accounts that have the same thing and their posts show correctly.

As far as I can see they are synced up fine…

Is it possible for you to look in the database? I am wondering if this users ‘display_name’ column in the ‘sfmembers’ table is empty? Worth a look if you are able…?

I have seen your PM but before I do anything else can you answer the question above?

The display name shows correct, it has the correct name from within the SQL atleast.

How about giving me actual permalinks to (1) a post that does not show the user name and (2) a post that does not show the quote button.

The link I gave you shows the post that doesn’t show the username, the missing username isn’t in the post itself it’s in the forum view so I can’t give a permalink to the post.

However, that same post where the missing username is, also has the missing quote.

They’re both related somehow, I can’t work out what it is.

I can drop the details to yourself and ike if you would like (it requires username and password) that I’ve provided via pm.

It’s OK – I have forwarded the PM to Mr Papa. We will always ask, as a matter of policy, for such deatils to be sent to more than one admin anyway…
