Hello,

when users reply to a post on my client's forum, the page goes blank. If I then manually go back to the forum page, the post has been submitted. It just seems to freeze on a blank screen after pressing submit reply. This does not happen when creating new topics. The problem also occurs when testing in the default twenty eleven  wp theme so I don't think it is a theme issue.

Can anyone please help?

I'm having the same issue exactly. Chrome reports HTTP Error 500. The URL is http://www.mydomainname.com/in.....8a3681038c

The only component I've added thus far is Subscriptions, so I've been replying a bunch trying to get emails to fire off (may or may not be a separate issue).

Thanks!

500 error is an internal server error. Anything more in the server error log?

Could be a permissions error on the ahah files too.

Or is your server by chance running mod_security?

I'm on WPEngine, so I don't think I can see the server log or the mod_security config (if it exists), so I'm not sure. I sent the story on to them including your pointers, so I will report back what they find.

Thanks for the quick response by the way.

WPEngine is also typically very good about handling issues, so between them and you, it's strange, but I'm not too worried about getting this one resolved. :-)

Thanks!

Here is what they found. Maybe it does have something to do with the subscription component?

I found that adding a reply created the following errors;

[Sat Oct 06 17:36:31 2012] [error] [client 127.0.0.1] PHP Notice: Undefined offset: 10 in /nas/wp/www/cluster-1084/phitnphat/wp-content/plugins/simple-press/sp-api/sp-api-users.php on line 482

[Sat Oct 06 17:37:54 2012] [error] [client 24.27.51.239] PHP Fatal error: Call to undefined function sp_filter_email_content() in /nas/wp/www/cluster-1084/phitnphat/wp-content/sp-resources/forum-plugins/subscriptions/library/sp-subscriptions-components.php on line 221, referer:http://www.phit-n-phat.com/forum/testing-forum/testing-a-post/

Do these errors indicate anything to you? Can you run these by the developers?

So what version of SP do you have and which version of subscriptions plugin? seems you might be running incompatible versions...

I know you are the developers. :-) I was block-quoting Patrick @ WPEngine.

Anyway, here is the version info.

Subscriptions version 1.1.5.

Editor TinyMCE Rich Text 1.2.

File Uploader with Plupload 1.2.4.

Simple:Press 5.1.3.

No worries, if quoted, wouldnt have shown up in email which I am replying via email...

Yup, the version of subscriptions plugin you are using requires SP 5.1.4... That would have been in the upgrade message before you upgraded (in wp updater panel) and listed in the plugin header...

Please upgrade to SP 5.1.4 and the error will go away...

Perfect, thanks. I should've checked that in the first place (I am the opposite of an obsessive-updater; I like to get things stable and leave them be for the most part.)

Updated and works great!
