Hellow I am using HTTPS on my website and because most users are going to be sharing the non-https stuff on the forums I want that part to be HTTP only.

However the problem is that the permalink gets reset to https even after I manually set it to be http via mysql.

Can you be kind enough to direct me as to how to disable auto permalink generation so it stays http?

Much appreciation and love for the forum software <3

Before we start hacking code - and I also admit to being unsure about the next question myself... but can WordPress actually support the use of http AND https on the same WP installation? I would have thought this was not possible...

sort of... you can use https for just the admin and/or the for the login stuff... or of course for the whole site... but I am not aware of any ability to use on some posts/pages but not the other...

simple press already supports https for those above standard wp configurations...

Wordpress forces HTTPS for the entire site. However I noticed that when I manually changed the permalink on forums to http://blahblah the forums itself was completely HTTP.

This way I get a nice HTTPS front page on my site and well as all the other pages. And since I got an MMORPG related site, users are bound to share non HTTPS stuff on the forums causing the browsers to panic, which is why I wanted http on it.

Besides the above mentioned way, I use cloudflare and I have page-rules. You can also set http with https on a single site with that.

Hope you can help me out with the permalink thingy.

Much thanks :)

Just a quick note, asynchronous javascript loader on Cloudflare doesn't work with simple press. Breaks some of the js functions. but that might be because of async loader's fault itself.

we get the url schema (http or https) from wp...  so not sure how you are going to make the forum by itself just be http...

Yes I understand. What I want to do is make the auto-permalink updater to stop updating at all. I can manually set the permalink  to be http in the mysql table. :)

Can you tell me how to stop that function from doing that?

Try /sp-startup/site/sp-site-support-functions.php
function sp_update_permalink()
