Support Forum
Hi,
I have a permissions issue which I cannot sort out. One of my moderators is also a blog editor and although she has all the right permissions she cannot link a blog post to a forum topic. This feature works fine for me (I am admin) but when I log on as her, I do not have the option to tick the 'Create Forum Topic' box. I have checked all the settings and they seem fine to me. Can you help? Thanks,
Audrey
At the moment I am somewhat mystified.
The rules - and the test of the code - are quite simple. IF the user has the create linked blog post SP permission AND the capability to publish WP posts - then show the form and allow the operation.
I did just set up a user on my test site - moderator in SP and Editor role in WP - and as expected, there was the form on the write post page...
So - let's talk about your environment. I am not sure WishList would have an effect (unless Mr Papa knows differently) so what about any other odd or security related plugins or systems in place? Anything that might effect the display of the write blog post screen and perhaps stop components from displaying?

wishlist shouldnt be getting in the way - at least no core... unless there are plugins affecting the wp write screen...

I cannot see any other stuff that would be causing an issue. The settings seem fine to me. On SP the user has the Moderator Access permission set which includes: "Can create linked blog post and forum topics". This is selected and green and has 2 icons next to it. The settings wheel with a green tick and the "user" or "member" icon (pink shirt) with a red cross. On the WP side of things, the user is an Editor and can publish, delete, edit posts as well as a hwole host of other capabilities. Am I missing something?
OK - first new question... did you upgrade yet to 5.3.3 ? I don't expect that this will make any difference but there was a small change (actually in the short-lived 5.3.2) to do with generic permissions - i.e., permissions not tied to a specific forum.
And - try also going to the forum admin > toolbox > housekeeping and click on the 'reset auths cache' tool jjst in case the users permissions cache has become unstable for some reason.
If neither of the above help then it would still be useful to determine what other WP plugins you have active there. You can copy and paste a list from the toolbox > environment panel.

hmm... so this was a generic, non forum specific permission? wouldnt have thought creating a blog linked topic wasnt forum specific, but glad you are all set now... must be in the wp editor check... will verify..
