Support Forum
I have assigned the "Read Only" permission set to a forum group to be applied to Guests. When logging in as a guest, on an unregistered computer, it allows me to post fully to the forum. I have looked at the permission set for "Read Only", and there are a few things checked in the "Viewing" section, but all other sections have no active permissions.
In addition, I have added a permission set that has only one item checked: "Can view a list of forums and list of topics only." I have applied this permission to both guests and members for a forum group. (This group is for paid subscribers only). When logged in as a guest and as a member, I cannot see the list of forums or topics.
what do you mean by registered computer??
and when you say forum group, what do you mean? sorry, but we have groups and forums.. so not sure what you are indicating...
are we talking specific forums here or all forums? asking because if a user or guest has multiple memberships on a forum, they will get the best permission... so if guests get read only via that permission, but also are getting your new permission with view list of forums and topics, the latter will be the one that wins and they will see...
so probably need more specific examples or screenshots...
might be worth going to forum - toolbox - housekeeping and resetting the auths cache just to see if that clears it up...

Sorry for the confusion.
By "registered computer", I mean from a computer that has not been logged in to the WP site, or the forum. A completely new guest to the site. Without logging in, as this guest, I should have read only access. However, instead, I am allowed to make posts and add topics. I have checked the permission set for "Read only" and this should not be happening.
Second, I added a new permission set that only allows "Can view a list of forums and list of topics only". I assigned it to a group, for both "members" and "guests". I have added another user group that will be able to subscribe to that group for a fee. I would like the other two user groups, "members" and "guests", to see the list of forums and topics, but I don't want them to be able to read any posts. Currently, this permission is not functioning properly as both members and guests are allowed to post within the group.
just to be clear, when you say assigned to a usergroup, do you mean you actually applied the permission (add group permission) or did you set the default permissions for the group when you edited it? the latter will only affect new forums created...
you can edit each forum on forum - forums - manage usergroups and forums... and look at each applied permissions to each forum and make sure you got the right sets...
so assume you have three main usergroups... members, guests and subscribers (for lack of better name currently)... if you look at a forum in question at its permissions, you would see members and guests with a permission set with the view list only... and subscribers with the a permission set that allows posting... right?
