Permissions Issue after upgrading from 4.4.5 to 5.1.0

Hello - I'm having an issue, and could use some help determining what went wrong and how to fix it.

I have SP setup and integrated with Wishlist.  All has been working perfectly.  However, Wordpress and SP all needed upgrading - so we setup a temporary development site, clone/moved WP and started upgrading to test to see if anything broke before upgrading the live site.  Good thing we did, because the SP forum permissions seemed to have flipped:  meaning if logged out, anyone could see the forum; but once logged in - not even the Admin could see the forum and instead is getting this message:  "The requested group does not exist or you do not have permission to view it"  This is what the logged Administrator is seeing!

If the Admin clicked the Profile button on the forum, and then the Permissions tab, we get this message:
"Access denied"

No role changing plugins were used in the previous setup, and the various Wishlist membership levels were mapped to the Subscriber level in WP.  Ironically, if I log in as a member, all appears to work perfectly... it just isn't for Admins.

Any clue why this is and how to fix it?  I can log into the WP admin dashboard, I can administrate everything there, just can't view the forum on the web.

Thanks!

Curious...

1 - Can I assume that guests are NOT supposed to see things?

2 - Can you double check that all is correct for members just so we can narrow things down. if they are not effected then it should help direct us where to look.

3 - Do you have any Moderators or use the Moderators user group and if so are they OK?

1. Correct, guests are not supposed to see things, and they can't.

2. Members permissions are correct and working.

3. Yes, we have Moderators and yes, they can access and view the forum.  Only the Admin cannot.

OK - for starters let's try this:

Go to the forum admin > toolbox > housekeeping and click on the option to reset the auths cache. Let's see if that helps

Did that, and unfortunately that did not fix it.  Anything else I can try?

can you take a quick look at your db... look for the sfauths table...  do any of the entries/rows in that table have a non zero value for the admin_negate column?  there should only be two that have a value of 1... rest should be 0...

the two would be 'reply_own_topics' and 'view_own_admin_posts'... if any others are non zero, try changing them to zero...

In addition to Mr Papa's question in post #6 above can I ask if this is really version 5.1.0 you are upgrading to?

Sorry for the delayed reply.  Check the sfauth table, that did not fix it

Yes, upgraded to 5.1.4.

Any other ideas on how to resolve this. It's ONLY the admin that can't see the forums; get this message when logged in as admin:  The requested group does not exist or you do not have permission to view it

Spoke too soon, I did a reset of the permissions and that seemed to have resolved it.
