I do want to make a slideshow of all images on the forum (if possible to exclude some forums), to place in the sidebar. And one of images from a current topic we focus on, to place on the front page. Do you have any good-looking solution?

Nothing built in or available as a plugin currently I am afraid. Would make a nice project for a budding plugin author though 
Of course - all uploaded images are there on the server so they can be retrieved, displayed and used in a slideshow but we have no current way of automating that. However, there may well be some Wp plugins out there that might so that is worth investigating perhaps.

I while take a look at some WP plugin.
The main ting I do want is that the images links to the post. A forum owner I know did tell me that when he got a slideshow like this the use of the forum went drastically up.
I do think this who’d a good extension to the Template Tags plugin.
