I run a photography forum. I'm planning on running a monthly contest where members submit images, and others "vote" on the favorite.
Is there a plugin that you know of of that would work well here? Something that would track the votes, and reveal results only when the member votes.... or similar.

I reckon our polls plugin would do the job. This would allow a poll to be positioned in the first post of a topic.

actually, a poll can be in any post in a topic (admin option)... and you can have a photo and poll in the same post if you want...

gave it a go, downloaded, installed. I can't see it working however. I need to post about 20-30 images, assign a name to each, and then give members the ability to simply and quickly select which is their first place, second and third place winner... I tested it, and it works fine as a question, now select an answer....kind limited. unless im missing something?R

Polls - in the way that the plugin works - is pretty traditional forum territory. Ranking 'posts' in a 1st, 2nd, 3rd place really isn't and we don't haver anything available that could do that.
A compromise might be our Post Rating plugin that allows uses to rate a post by selecting how many stars (out of 5) to award it. These are totalled up to give each post a score.

thanks....im looking around for an option that may work with my wishlist membership. It doesn't have to be a forum thing, but is for members only.....

have you looked at the wp plugins repository? if not forum specific, might be a wp plugin that could accomplish it... I believe next gen gallery plugin allows something like that including a votiong method or add on for images... and you can display next gen gallery shortcodes in the forum... obviously we havent test all of them but generally they work...
