Hi team

I have noticed that when I log in as (Admin role) and click on a forum post I created, the attachment thumbnail opens in a large popup window just fine and as expected. When I login as test user (Member role) and click on it nothing happens. Both logins types open the attachment (paperclip) file  below it in a new window OK. I have tried this with all attachments and it is the same. I have looked at all the forum settings and permissions I can think of and all looks OK for Members to view and open attachments. It issues happens on both Firefox and Chrome browsers. I even changed the 'permission set' of the topic from ‘read only’ to ‘standard’ and it made no difference. I don’t think the javascript:void message at lower left of my screen capture is a problem as it shows in my login when I hover the mouse pointer over the thumbnail as well.

I am using WP 3.9.1 and SP 5.5.0 with the default SP theme (1.2.7)

Are you able to offer a suggestion of what could be wrong? It is a much better user experience to have the thunmbnail image open in a separate movable/closable popup.

Cheers

David

nothing happening would seem to indicate some sort of js error....  not sure what would be diff on your site for admin vs user...

can you try with browse console open and see if any js errors are reported when you click on it as user?

link to site please?

Thanks for your quick response Mr Papa :)

My site is Alcohemy.com and you will see the page address from the attached screenshot.

I checked both Admin and Member logins using the Web Console and couldn't see any JS errors logged. Only a lot of CSS enrties and some Net ones. I'm not sure if they are significant so I have attached a screenshot of only the top of the logs of both Member (Web Console) and Admin (Admin Web Console) console logs.

I also attached a shot of the successful thumbnail enlargement from the Admin login.

Not sure if this helps determine what the issue maybe? Thanks for your help.

Regards, David

Script conflicts are the only thing that really makes any sense... so this is most puzzling. And a unique report at this time.

We may need an account so that we can view a forum page directly. Would this be possible? If so - can you please PM credentials to both myself and to 'Mr Papa'. Please include in the PM a link to your site, a link to this thread and brief reminder of the problem. And one of us will take a look for you.

OK - well the HTML is most certainly getting mangled quite badly.

Do you have anything active - ie., another WP plugin - that may be having an effect on links in blog posts. I.e., doing something with them to chage their behaviour in any way...?

I'm not trained a tech and my developer/IT support is on extended leave. I have attached a capture of my WP Plugins. I can't think of anything that would upset the links.

I could change your login role to 'admin' if that would help your review?

Cheers, David.

not sure an admin account would help...  best bet is to narrow it down...  try temp switch to default wp theme and see if any better...  if not, then disable all other wp plugins and see if better... if so, then enable one by one until it breaks... then we know the conflict and can work to resolve it...

Thanks for your advice. I would rather my developer/tech support do what you advise... so I don't break anything she has done.  She is on leave for a few weeks so will respond back as soon as she has some results for you.

Thanks again for your quick response.

Regards, David

Hi Mr P & YS

I was having a further looik using the page Element Inspector tool of the Web Console and noticed this difference. I don't have the technical expertise to know if it is a problem so thought best to bring to your attention.

When I select the attachment thumbnail when logged in as Admin it has the popup size code in a dfferent place and format to when logged in as a Member (pls see screen captures).

I also noticed a JS error logged this time when I clicked on the thumbnail whilst logged in as a Member (see capture).

Does this help you at all?

Regards, David.
