Private Messages not getting through

One of my forum users is unable to send Private Messages all of a sudden. They have done previously for the last 2 years or so, suddenly yesterday they are unable to send any messages.

I received the email saying I have messaged from him, and in the forum page the 'inbox' button shows 3 messages that are all from him but I nor anyone else he sends PM's to can access them?

Does the user who sent them see them - and I mean can they view the actual message text? And I suppose I best ask now just in case... did he embed an emoji in the text?

He can not see the PM's he has sent.

He copy/paste the PM he sent by forum and it looks like he did include emoji in one of the messages. I have a feeling the other messages were forward/reply so may or may not have had the same emoji linked via past messages.

Would you please go to the forum admin> toolbox > environment panel and tell me the version of mySQL it is reporting?

Oh.. well that was not what I was expecting! I should have asked at the same time if you are also using the latest and up to date version of WordPress (4.2.2) and are fully updated on the latest Simple:Press as well.

Anything less than that (or on an older version of mySQL) will not be able to save an emoji and the save will fail.

Wordpress was up to date, but Simple:Press was not.

Now updating Simple:Press.

Hopefully that is the cause of the problem. With both up to date WP and SP then it should be fine to use emojis on your level of MySQL.. We will be interested to hear if the PMs sent now work as expected...

That seems to have fixed the problem, the member with the issue has sent a test email to me with emoji in that I received fine.

Thanks for your help.
