Problem With Google Indexing Image Caption

Greetings.. smile

I am creating a post topic to be used to replace WordPress default comments. I decided that i would use the whole post text, and let SP filter out images, and other media. If someone wanted to see the images they could just go view the blog post, then come back and comment in the forums.

I noticed that Google is picking up the image caption info, along with an excerpt of the post to be used as the meta description. The only way i can find to prevent this is after publishing a blog post, go in and edit the auto created SP topic and delete the image and caption code in the post. Is there something i can do to prevent this?

Here is a link to a post i wrote this morning, along with a couple of screen caps.

technically, not a caption, but a shortcode...

you could go to forum - options - content settings and strip out the shortcodes from your post content...  sounds like you dont want it in the post...

Mornin, Gents.. confused

Shortcodes.. OK

Just checked, and the option "filter wp shortcodes" is selected. I do not see a strip out option. SP is filtering the image from showing on the page, but the shortcode is still there in the source, and that's what Google is picking up as my meta description.

I usually put a thumbnail photo in the upper right corner of my posts. If i could leave that one photo and filter out any others that would work too.

actually, I mean try the other direction...  add caption (just word, no brackets) to approved list... that is, not filtered...

OK, that allows all the images. Guess that's OK.

I also Filter out the HTML pre tags, which fixed some of the image formatting. Looking good now.. cool
