Support Forum
I upgraded from SP 4.5 to 5.2.2 this morning.
I followed the directions as best I understood them here: http://codex.simple-press.com/.....rsion-4-5/
When upgrade was complete my website still acts as normal but when I attempt to access my Forums page I get the following notification: The requested group does not exist or you do not have permission to view it
So, I double check permissions and there the confusion begins.
I can't seem to find a way to assign a permissions set to a usergroup, nor to assign a usergroup to a permissions set.
When attempting to edit the permissions sets the green panel I had with all the selections (three columns worth) can't be found.
When attempting to go into a user I can't edit their profile. The only choices are view profile (basically just shows their avatar and group assignment) or delete user.
So, I guess the first thing to ask is how do I get the forums accessible?
After that the other questions will need to be addressed as well.
Thanks in advance,
Rich
I reset the permissions as advised in a similar post I found. That seems to have made the forums accessible again but I don't see how to assign permission sets to a usergroup.
ie. Members should be allowed standard access, moderators moderator access, admins full access, etc.
Are you able and willing to take a look in your database? It would be worth doing a quick data check before starting to diagnose and advise. If you can then can you check two table for data. In particular - how many rows of data does each table have. These are 'sfauths' and 'sfauthcats'. And when it comes to 'sfauthcats', assuming 8 entries - is the authcat_id numbered 1 to 8?

Ok - we crossed posts there. I see you didn't wait so that answers those questions above.
User Groups and Permission Sets are assigned to a forum in exactly the same way in V5 as they were in V4 - through the Admin > Manage Groups and Forums panel - View Forum Permissions button over on the right.

Got all previous questions figured out.
Now, next question, where is my inbox/private message capability? How did that get lost?
Edit:
Figured out that PM is not a plugin and no longer built-in. ( I did not set up the original install of WP/SP, please forgive my ignorance ).
I've searched and not found any places to download Simple:Press themes other than the three themes available in the them library. Are there any other sources for SP theme downloads? I did find a page that took me to a theme builder who would create a custom theme but I'm just looking for some other color options to match the forums to the Games Mania theme we're using as our WP theme.
