Profile photos display OK in Chrome but not Firefox or IE

Hi team

I just changed my profile photo preference to 'upload' instead of 'URL' to upload some photos to my profile for the first time. After uploading 5 photos I notice they don't display properly on the one page when viewed in Firefox (my usual browser), nor IE browser, though all do display well on the page in Chrome (see attachments).

Can you offer an explaination why this may be?

I am using the 'profile page' view for the profile, not the pop-up window as the default.
The physical page sizes are the same in each browser on my monitor.

Cheers, David.

cant really tell from an image... but likely down to css and how browser interprets them...  we dont have a lot styling going on there - actually kind of figured the images would all be similar in size/shape...

to be honest, cant tell, but which of those do you think is right?

you might be able to make it look better for enforcing a min size for the picture container...  can guests view profiles on your site?  if so, can you provide a link?

Thanks Steve.

The Chrome screen capture is how I believe the 5 photos should look (all completely showing in the container). The FF and IE conatiners only show two complete photos and two cut off (the third photo must be completely off to the right out of sight?).

You are already set up with a login as Mr Papa. I have just PM'd you and other admin the PW.

Thanks for checking this for me.

Weird isn't it? We are investigating. May have to set up some test data...

Hey David,

After a frustrating hour and then some, I have found the problem and have just made a ticket for a fix to be put in place for this.

Temporarily, you can try adding this to the end of your stylesheet (easy to find and remove later if needed)

#spMainContainer .spProfileShowPhotosSection table.spProfileShowUserPhotos td {
    display: inline-block;
}

Although I am not sure whether paddings, margins or other things might need a tweak yet, as locally my profile photos gallery looks a lot less overlapped than yours when using the fix, this will definitely make the feature useable until a fix is out.

Works fine this way cross broswer, hope it helps!

Thanks guys and sorry for puting you to so much trouble for a seemingly small issue. Though I am going to encourage my members to start adding photos to their own profiles.
I'm not a tech expert, though should be able to find the stylesheet you refer to. Once I find it, adding the script will be easy enough for me :) .

I will let you know how I get on.

Thanks once again, David

It was no trouble, just a very odd problem and hard to find! It is after all what we're here for!

Just navigate to your themes folder - using 'default' as an example (sp-resources > forum-themes > default> styles > default.php)

Just place that code at the very bottom, after the last entry (ending with a closing brace '}' ) and before any PHP opening tags (<?php)

In any case, glad to help.

Thank you for that advice... and yes it worked a treat in FF browser (haven't checked IE yet thought expect it to be fine as well.). All photos now show in the container on the page profile page.

I used the SP Forum 'Theme Editor' and when I opened it the default.php was already displayed as the default. It was really easy to add the script according to your precise instructions. Thanks for that extra detail as that was just what I needed to get it right :)

Will it be mandatory to remove that code if/when a permanent fix comes out, or can I just leave it there?

BTW. A quick question/suggestion.

In the future would it possible to be able to add captions to each photo to explain who or what the photo is about?

we can consider it, but a bit of UI nightmare... have made a note of it...
