I cannot since this account does not have any sp admin capabilities...
would also be interesting to see what happens if you turned off those security plugins you are running... they could be interferring too... when I can get the site to cooperate, it never gets to sp profile code...

Just did it. No change to Profile problem.

Sorry about the admin privileges. I've given you all the permissions.
I did a backup. Disabled ALL plugins but SimplePress. Profile worked. I restored, so all the prior plugins that were active were reactivated. Still works.
I'll keep an eye on things and see if it keeps working or if there are any other issues.

That will usually come down to the order in which scripts get loaded. WordPress will load plugin resources in the order in which they were activated which can effect loading order of a plugins JavaScript files and even CSS files. Looks like you might have changed that to your advantage.
