I currently have it in my templates footer. But should it also be included in SP somewhere?

Probably a dumb question - but i just had to ask.

by templates footer, do you mean wp theme footer?  if so, and you have your standard wp theme footer on the wp page the forum shows up on, then you are good and nothing else is needed...

you could view the page source on a forum page and see if its at the bottom...
