Support Forum
Hi
We are currently setting up a Forum on our Wordpress Intranet site (SUSE Linux 11 SP2). New Topics can be added and things are working OK so far, but the RRS feeds are not displaying at all (we are using Super RSS and tried the normal RSS reader). The page with the RRS feed on are taking a while to load and then displaying:
RSS Error: This XML document is invalid, likely due to invalid characters. XML error: Not well-formed (invalid token) at line 1, column 1
When you view the RSS feed in Chrome we see: This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below.
The actual RSS URL is: http://intranet.xxxx.co.uk/soc.....de78155e0/
Does the Feed URL look ok? Any thoughts.. I have tried to search this forum, but RSS is only 3 characters and the search function will not work
Thanks
The url looks fine... of course, the feed key at the end indicates you are using private rss feeds... being on an intranet, do you need private rss feeds? so to see a feed, you need to be logged in or each user provide their unique feedkey... If you dont need private feeds, you could try disabling them on forum - options - global settings...
what does super rss do?

Thanks for the quick reply... I changed the 'Private Feeds' setting you suggested (I didn't really know it was there or what it did). Unfortunately I still don't get a working RSS feed. The new URL now correctly ends: http://intranet.xxx.co.uk/soci.....forum/rss/
I have tried to Disable and the Enable the Global RSS feeds, just in case that would help, but it didn't.
Is the error in the reader panel relevant..? RSS Error:This XML document is invalid, likely due to invalid characters. XML error: Not well-formed (invalid token) at line 1, column 1
Is their a bug in the Simple:Press RSS code?
As well as using IE9 I am testing in Chrome, and still using both RSS readers to test the feed, just in case one reacts differently to the other - so far they both fail in the same way.
Super RSS Reader widget displays a single RSS panel, but within it you can have multiple tabbed RSS feeds. A nice way to group related RSS subjects. It can also animate the entries so they scroll through the last so many, this adds a bit of movement to the pages. Nice little plugin.
There is no known issue with RSS feeds. They are working fine with users.
Since we cannot see the feed, hard for us to troubleshoot. You should be able to look at the page source for the feed page in your browser and see what characters the feed is complaining about.
