I used to use sf_new_post_announce with version 4.4.5 but can't seem to figure out how to "activate" that function for version 5.0

Sorry but afraid we have dropped the 'announce' tag. It was quite resource hungry and was very little used. As far as I can recall in 5 years or so we only ever got about two support questions on it.

It would make a great plugin if someone wanted to take it on. I will also say if we did get a surprise and lot of users asked for it back then we would also reconsider re-instating it.

Ok, so there is no way to show the latest forums posts in my sidebar via a widget that auto-updates i.e. every 5 minutes? Did I get this right?

Sorry I just realized another issue:

It is not only the auto-refresh I am missing but I remember, previously to this update the recent forum posts also showed every user which post was unread, so with a simple glance at the sidebar one could see which recent forum posts one had not read.

is that somehow possible? maybe extend the widget?

Jepp, there was a red triangle or some red marking distinguishing the unread from the red recent forum posts 🙁

this is the feature every one of my users misses most.

Same situation at http://friskyttarna.eu

Upgraded to version 5, and our members are not happy at all with the dropdown menu. We are VERY much missing the red marking that distinguishing the unread forum posts.

Is this feature soon implemented again?
