Hiya. I'm sure this has been asked before but I can't find it after searching.

Is there any way to have a Quick Reply entry area below a post rather than Add Reply?

Cheers

Mark

Apart from allowing for the editor to be inline - which, by the way, is no technical joyride! - how does this differ from what we offer now with the editor scrolling into focus open and ready?

The editor scrolls in great. It's more that the button isn't so obvious to some people and I think the inline quick reply entry has become so popular that it's kind of expected.

you want an inline reply for each post in a topic? seems like overkill unless I am misunderstanding...

Not for every post.  Just at the end of the thread.  So just the same as the Add Reply but the reply box already open there. I might be describing it badly because it's a very common feature on forums. I had it set on phpbb before moving over to Simplepress (which I love by the way).

Ah - you would prefer the page opened with the editor already open. Is that it? You cam do that now with a small template change.

If you want to go ahead with that I would recommend you create a child theme if you have not already done so. Download the necessary child theme framework from our store (free) and change the name (see https://simple-press.com/docum.....ild-theme/ for full and detailed help). You will need to copy the forum and topic view template files from the parent to the child.

Once you have the child theme in place I can talk you through the specific change (real easy!). Just tell me what SP theme you are using.

Hi again. Sorry. Been away for a while so big gap since your reply!

That sounds perfect. I have a child theme working. The theme is Reboot.

Copy over the /desktop/spTopicViewDesktop.php (and the mobile equivalent) templates from the main Reboot to your child.

Open each one for an edit. At the very top of each you will see the $addPostForm array defined. Simpy change the 'hide' value from 1 (true) to 0 (zero - false). And save.
